Far North Queensland is one of the most diverse and beautiful areas in Australia. From lush tropical forests of the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation to the beautiful islands and reefs of the Great Barrier Reef and the dry and arid Atherton Tablelands, this region has a wealth of natural wonders for any visitor.
Cairns is one of the main tourist starting points with an international airport, casino and world-class resorts stretching up the coast to Port Douglas. The region is a rich farmland, growing sugar cane and tropical fruits. Heading up the coastal highway to the Gulf country the landscape is lush with magnificent forests but only a few kilometres inland the land changes to an arid land where cattle farming and mining is the norm.
