Western Australia takes up the western third of the Australian Continent and is home to about 2 million people, with nearly 3/4 of them living in Perth, the world’s most remote capital city. Western Australia has vast wilderness, with deserts and plains stretching the whole length of the state. Popular tourist destinations include the Kimberly region, which is full of amazing scenery with canyons and cliffs dating back hundreds of millions of years. The Pilbra is rich in natural resources and home to much of Western Australia’s thriving mining industry. Broome on the North West Coast is a popular destination with great beaches and a multicultural city. The gold field region to Perth’s east is also a great destination, with Kalgoorlie offering so much to see and do. Albany and Esperance on the south coast are popular fishing and holidaying destinations for those wishing to escape the fast lane. Spring brings many tourists to Western Australia to see the spectacular wild flowers which spring up out of the barren lands after winter rain.
