Perth

Perth is the most remote capital city in the world, being the only capital on Australia’s western coastline it is some 4400 km away from Sydney. In-fact, Capetown in South Africa is the closest capital to Perth.

Perth is a modern city of glass and concrete skyscrapers, a legacy of the 1980s boom. Situated on the banks of the beautiful Swan River, the city enjoys more sun and a warmer climate than many of Australia’s other capitals.

Home to 1.3 million people, many of which live in properties with river views, Perth is a clean and cosmopolitan city.

Fremantle to the South is a port city which is rich with history and was home to the America’s Cup which overtook the city in the mid 1980s.

Like the South Eastern States, Perth is Australian Rules Football mad and has two teams in the national competition, The West Coast Eagles and Fremantle.

The city has an excellent bus network, rail and watercraft services which make it very easy to get around the suburbs and to Fremantle.

Perth is a very friendly city and a little more laid back than the big cities on the East Coast.
After the rise and fall of many of the rich during the 1980s and early 1990s, Perth has again risen and is again home to the very rich, now mainly from mining.
