V8 Supercars Gold Coast 500
The Sufers Paradise street racing circuit has been home to various car racing events over the years with the Supercars Gold Coast 500 being the current iteration of racing on the Gold Coast. Winding through the narrow streets of Surfers Paradise these superfast race cars thrill the thousands watching from every vantage point. There is a real festival atmosphere, with big rock bands, V8 Supercars and all the glitz and glamour you would expect from an event like this.

Gold Coast Marathon

With a beautiful, picturesque flat course running alongside world-famous beaches, the Gold Coast Airport Marathon is one of the world’s great road races. Attracting a large field of International athletes, including Olympians, the marathon supports the largest marathon field in Australia The event has run since 1979 and is usually held in July.

The Prime Minister’s Cup

The Prime Minister’s Cup is one of the biggest race days on Queensland’s racing calendar, featuring the cream of Queensland’s thoroughbreds in action at this time-honoured event. Held at the Gold Coast Turf Club usually during May, the race day is also one of the Gold Coast’s biggest social days.

The Big Day Out

Music fans from all over Queensland and northern New South Wales flock to Australia’s premier music festival. Its Queensland stop is in Surfers Paradise, with some of the world’s hottest acts performing. The Day Out happens late January and is held at the Surfers Paradise Park lands.

Surf championships

Most of the beaches between Southport and Coolangatta are host to Surfing Championships throughout the summer months.  Some of Australia’s best surf life-saving teams battle it out in the harsh surf along the Gold Coast.

The Sanctuary Cove Boat Show

Sanctuary Cove plays host to the largest on water boat show in the Asia Pacific region. The Sanctuary Cove International Boat show has a huge flotilla, including the latest in luxury cruisers, yachts and pleasure craft from manufacturers in Australia and abroad. The boat show is usually held in May.
