Melbourne’s Docklands

Melbourne docklands
The Docklands precinct is Melbourne’s newest playground. Halfway through a 20+ year construction phase, the precinct is Melbourne’s waterfront suburb.

The Docklands Stadium is the southern hemispheres largest indoor stadium. Seating over 50,000 people with a movable roof, the stadium plays host to the AFL football and many international sports including soccer, rugby and cricket. Docklands Stadium has also played host to many of the world’s biggest musical artists, in its first 3 years Kiss, Barbra Streisand, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Robbie Williams and Bruce Springsteen have all played to huge crowds.

The waterfront precinct is home to several huge high rise apartment complexes that when finished, will house tens of thousands of residents in this waterfront city.

Some of the most creative modern cafés and bars have sprung up along the Dockland’s waterfront, with more retail complexes and entertainment districts are under construction.

The area is well serviced by watercraft, ferries and the free city loop tram which takes visitors right to Dockland’s doorstep from most points of the city.

There is no better place in Melbourne to enjoy a cool drink on a balmy night than in one of the bars in the docklands complex.

Many new events and activities are now taking place in the Dockland’s precinct. Yacht racing, Dance Parties, sporting events and festivals are all making this area one of Melbourne’s new jewels.
